For individuals who want to support CCI, participate in community activities and contribute to the work carried out for the Congolese community in Ireland.

What every member agrees to

To become and remain a CCI member, every applicant must agree to the following principles.

Payment of membership fees

Fees finance CCI's programmes, administration, communications, events, advocacy and community services. Missed payments may suspend benefits, voting rights or eligibility for responsibilities.

Respect for CCI's mission and vision

Every member commits to respecting and promoting CCI's mission, vision and values, and supporting a united, responsible, inclusive community.

Protection of the community's interests

Members must never knowingly work against CCI's legitimate interests, unity, reputation or approved programmes. Constructive criticism is welcome; sabotage, misinformation and harassment are not.

Integrity and good conduct

Membership may be refused, suspended or terminated where credible evidence shows fraud, violence, exploitation, discrimination, misuse of CCI's name, or serious criminal conduct, following a fair internal review.

Demonstrated community contribution

Members seeking responsibility must show genuine action — volunteering, working groups, professional expertise or community organising. Popularity or payment alone are not enough.

Minimum membership period for leadership

Normally 6–9 months of active membership before eligibility for election, senior appointment, official representation or access to sensitive information — with narrow, governance-approved exceptions.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Silver and Gold Membership?+

Silver is for members who want to contribute, participate and support community programmes. Gold is a higher contribution for members who may wish to be considered for future leadership, administrative or representative responsibilities.

Does Gold Membership guarantee me a position?+

No. Membership payments do not purchase leadership positions. A position must be earned through service, competence, integrity, participation and compliance with CCI's governance procedures.

How long must I be a member before applying for a role?+

Normally at least six to nine months of active membership before becoming eligible for election, nomination or appointment to a significant community role.

Can I participate without holding a position?+

Yes. Members contribute through volunteering, working groups, professional expertise, events, community projects, mentoring and advocacy.

Can my membership be suspended?+

Yes, for serious misconduct, non-payment, misuse of CCI's identity, actions against the organisation, serious reputational risk or breaches of the code of conduct — always through a fair, documented process.

Can membership fees be refunded?+

Monthly fees are normally non-refundable once the membership period has started, except where required by law or approved under exceptional circumstances. You can cancel future recurring payments at any time.

Can businesses become partners?+

Yes — businesses, organisations and institutions may apply for sponsorship, partnership or corporate-support opportunities through a separate process.
